Make any video small enough to actually send.

Pick a quality, or name the size you need and MightyBench works out the bitrate. Resolution and frame rate stay exactly as they were.

One-time purchase · macOS 26 Tahoe or later, Apple silicon recommended

How it works

Three steps, start to finish.

  1. 01

    Open Compress Video

Press ⌃⌥Space and type “compress”, or pick it from MightyBench’s menu bar icon.

  2. 02

    Drop videos, choose a mode

Add MOV, MP4, MKV, WebM and more. Keep Quality at 70%, or switch to Target size and pick the 25 MB email or 16 MB chat preset.

  3. 03

    Press Compress

Smaller MP4s land in a new dated folder in Downloads › MightyBench, with a summary of the space you saved. Your originals stay put.

The details

Small things, done properly.

  • Aim for an exact size

Target size mode works out the bitrate for you, so a clip fits an email or chat attachment limit on the first attempt.

  • Nothing gets resized

Resolution and frame rate are kept. Only how efficiently the picture is stored changes.

  • Typically 60–80% smaller

Phone videos and screen recordings commonly shrink by 60–80% at the default quality setting.

  • Starts playing straight away

Files are written with fast start, so they begin playing before they have finished downloading.

  • Hardware or x264

Turn on hardware encoding for quick exports on Apple silicon, or leave it off for x264 and the smallest files.

  • No caps, no watermark

No size limit and no queue. A savings summary lists every file’s size before and after.

FAQ

Questions about Compress Video

Anything else? Email support@mightybench.com and a person will reply.

How do I compress a video on a Mac?

Open Compress Video, drop the file in and press Compress. At the default 70% quality you get a much smaller MP4 in a new dated folder in Downloads › MightyBench, and the original is left exactly where it was.

Can I make a video fit a 25 MB email limit?

Yes. Switch the mode to Target size and choose the 25 MB email preset, or type any size in MB. MightyBench calculates the bitrate so the finished file fits.

Will the compressed video look different?

Resolution and frame rate stay exactly as they were; only the way the picture is stored changes. If you need an even smaller file, lower the Quality slider or set a target size.

Does Compress Video need FFmpeg?

Yes. MightyBench installs FFmpeg through Homebrew in one click the first time you need it, or you can point it to a copy you already have.

Is there a file size limit?

No. There’s no size cap, no watermark and no queue, because everything runs on your Mac. Compress a single clip or a whole folder at once.

Plus forty-eight other tools.
