Video · Resize Video

The height takes care of itself once you pick a width.

Choose a width from 3840 down to 640 px, or type your own. Height is calculated from each video’s own aspect ratio, so portrait and landscape clips are never stretched.

How it works

Three steps, start to finish.

  1. 01

    Open Resize Video

Press ⌃⌥Space and type “1080p”, or pick it from MightyBench’s menu bar icon.

  2. 02

    Drop videos, choose a width

Add MOV, MP4, M4V, MKV, WebM, AVI or MTS files and pick 3840, 1920, 1280, 854 or 640 px, or a custom width. Leave Allow upscaling off unless you need it.

  3. 03

    Press Resize

Resized MP4s land in a new dated folder in Downloads › MightyBench, each with its height matched to its own shape. The originals are left as they were.

The details

Small things, done properly.

  • Width in, height worked out

You only set the width. Height is calculated from each video’s own aspect ratio, so nothing is squashed or stretched.

  • Portrait and landscape together

Upright phone clips and widescreen footage can share one batch, and each one keeps its own shape.

  • Widths that match 1080p and 4K

    3840, 1920, 1280, 854 and 640 px line up with 4K, 1080p, 720p, 480p and 360p for widescreen video.

  • No surprise upscaling

Resize Video never upscales unless you ask it to, using the Allow upscaling switch.

  • Or type your own width

Need an unusual size? Enter a custom width, and the height still follows each video’s original shape.

FAQ

Questions about Resize Video

Anything else? Email support@mightybench.com and a person will reply.

How do I change a video’s resolution on a Mac?

Open Resize Video, drop the file in, choose a width such as 1920 px (1080p) and press Resize. The height is worked out for you.

How do I turn a 4K video into 1080p?

Choose 1920 px in the Width menu. For widescreen video that gives 1080p, with the height calculated from the original aspect ratio.

Will vertical videos get stretched?

No. Only the width is set, and the height follows each video’s own shape, portrait or landscape.

Can it make a small video bigger?

Only if you ask. Resize Video never upscales unless you turn on Allow upscaling.

What do I need to install?

Just FFmpeg. MightyBench installs it through Homebrew in one click, or you can use a copy you already have.

Are my original videos kept?

Yes. Resized copies go to a new dated folder in Downloads › MightyBench, and the originals are never changed.
