How it works

Three steps, start to finish.

  1. 01

    Open Convert Images

Press ⌃⌥Space and type “heic”, or pick it from MightyBench’s menu bar icon.

  2. 02

    Pick a Format and Quality

Add HEIC, PNG, RAW or anything macOS can read. Choose JPEG, PNG, HEIC, WebP, AVIF or TIFF, and keep Quality at 80% or set it from 10–100%.

  3. 03

    Press Convert

Converted copies are written to a new dated folder in Downloads › MightyBench, ready to share. Your original photos stay exactly as they were.

The details

Small things, done properly.

  • iPhone photos, sorted

HEIC pictures from your iPhone become JPEGs that open anywhere, always turned the right way up.

  • No location tag by default

Metadata is stripped unless you switch on Keep metadata, so where you were and which camera you used stay private.

  • Transparency kept

Transparent areas stay transparent in PNG, HEIC, WebP, AVIF and TIFF, and turn white when you save as JPEG.

  • WebP and AVIF built in

WebP is written by MightyBench’s bundled encoder and AVIF output is included, so there’s no FFmpeg or anything else to install.

  • RAW, GIF and BMP go in too

Anything macOS can read is fair game: HEIC, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP and camera RAW files.

  • Quality from 10 to 100%

Lossy formats get a Quality slider from 10–100%, starting at 80%, so you choose the balance between size and detail.

FAQ

Questions about Convert Images

Anything else? Email support@mightybench.com and a person will reply.

How do I convert HEIC to JPG on a Mac?

Open Convert Images, drop the HEIC photos in and leave Format on JPEG. Press Convert and the JPEGs land in a new dated folder in Downloads › MightyBench, the right way up.

Do I need FFmpeg to save WebP or AVIF?

No. WebP is written by MightyBench’s bundled encoder and AVIF output is included, so the image tools never need FFmpeg or any other download.

Does converting keep my photo’s location data?

Not unless you ask. Metadata is stripped by default, which leaves location and camera details behind. Turn on Keep metadata to carry them over.

What happens to transparent backgrounds?

They stay transparent in PNG, HEIC, WebP, AVIF and TIFF. Save as JPEG and transparent areas turn white.

Can I convert lots of photos at once?

Yes. Drop a batch and every image is converted with the same settings. If one file fails, you choose whether to keep the ones that worked.

Can it open RAW photos?

Yes. Convert Images reads RAW files along with HEIC, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP and anything else macOS can open.
