Video · Crop & Rotate Video

Frame the shot for the feed, not the camera.

Crop to Square, 9:16, 16:9 or 4:5 while the video plays, and drag the frame to follow your subject. Rotate sideways phone clips and flip mirrored selfie footage too.

How it works

Three steps, start to finish.

  1. 01

    Open Crop & Rotate Video

Press ⌃⌥Space and type “crop”, or pick it from MightyBench’s menu bar icon.

  2. 02

Choose a shape and a mode

Pick an Aspect such as 9:16, choose Fill to crop or Fit to add bars, then rotate 90° left, 180° or 90° right, or flip horizontally or vertically.

  3. 03

    Press Apply

The reframed MP4 is saved to a new dated folder in Downloads › MightyBench. The clip you started with is left exactly as it was.

The details

Small things, done properly.

  • Drag the frame as it plays

Watch the crop on the playing video and drag the frame to follow your subject.

  • Square, 9:16, 16:9 or 4:5

Keep the Original shape, crop freely, or pick Square, 9:16, 16:9 or 4:5 to suit where the video is going.

  • Fill or Fit

Fill crops the picture to the new shape. Fit keeps the whole picture and adds bars instead, so nothing is cut off.

  • Fix sideways phone videos

Rotate 90° left, 180° or 90° right to put a clip filmed the wrong way round back upright.

  • Fix mirrored selfie footage

Flip horizontally or vertically to put mirrored selfie footage back the right way round.

FAQ

Questions about Crop & Rotate Video

Anything else? Email support@mightybench.com and a person will reply.

How do I crop a video on a Mac?

Open Crop & Rotate Video, drop the clip in, choose an Aspect and drag the frame over your subject. Press Apply to save the reframed copy as an MP4.

Can I turn a landscape video into a vertical one?

Yes. Choose 9:16 with Fill to crop to a vertical frame, then drag it to follow your subject. Choose Fit instead to keep the whole picture with bars.

How do I rotate a sideways video?

Pick 90° left, 180° or 90° right and press Apply. The rotated copy is saved as an MP4, and the original stays as it was.

Can I fix a mirrored selfie video?

Yes. Flip horizontal or vertical puts mirrored selfie footage back the right way round.

Does it work without FFmpeg?

No, it needs FFmpeg. One click installs it through Homebrew, and if FFmpeg is already on your Mac you can point MightyBench to it.

Is my video uploaded to crop it?

No. Cropping, rotating and flipping all happen on your Mac, with no account and nothing uploaded.
