How it works

Three steps, start to finish.

  1. 01

    Open Remove Metadata

Press ⌃⌥Space and type “exif”, or pick it from MightyBench’s menu bar icon.

  2. 02

    See what each photo carries

Add HEIC, JPEG, PNG, TIFF or WebP. MightyBench shows what each one holds, such as location, camera details and capture dates. There’s nothing to set.

  3. 03

    Press Remove Metadata

Clean copies in the same format land in a new dated folder in Downloads › MightyBench, pixels untouched. The originals keep their data.

The details

Small things, done properly.

  • See what’s hiding first

Before you clean anything, each photo shows what it carries: location, camera details and capture dates.

  • Five kinds of metadata gone

EXIF, GPS, IPTC and XMP data are all removed, along with the maker notes cameras tuck inside the file.

  • Orientation stays

The only thing kept is orientation, so your photos stay upright after they’ve been cleaned.

  • No recompression

JPEG, HEIC, PNG and TIFF are copied without recompression, so the pixels are exactly what they were before.

  • Nothing leaves the machine

Photos are cleaned locally. There’s no upload, no account and no analytics, so the details you’re removing go nowhere.

FAQ

Questions about Remove Metadata

Anything else? Email support@mightybench.com and a person will reply.

How do I remove EXIF data from photos on a Mac?

Open Remove Metadata and drop the photos in to see what they carry. Press Remove Metadata and clean copies land in a new dated folder in Downloads › MightyBench.

Does it remove GPS location from photos?

Yes. GPS location goes along with EXIF, IPTC, XMP and maker notes. Only orientation is kept, so your photos stay upright.

Will removing metadata reduce quality?

No. The pixels are untouched, and JPEG, HEIC, PNG and TIFF files are copied without recompression.

Can I see what a photo contains before cleaning it?

Yes. Remove Metadata shows what each photo is carrying, including location, camera details and dates, before you clean it.

Does it change my original photos?

No. The originals keep their metadata. Clean copies are published to a fresh dated folder once the batch finishes.

Why is orientation kept?

So photos stay upright. Orientation is the one piece of metadata that tells apps which way up to show a picture.
