Intelligence · Search Files
Find the file by what it says, not what it’s called.
Type what you remember, like “the lease that mentions pets”, and Search Files finds it even if the words differ. It works the moment you open it, with nothing to download.

The details
Small things, done properly.
-
Search by meaning
Describe a document the way you remember it. It turns up even when the file itself uses different words.
-
Photos and screenshots
Photos are understood by what they show and screenshots by the words in them, so a picture can be found like any document.
-
Exact words still match
Exact words, names and invoice numbers match instantly, and meaning and words are ranked together.
-
Ready when you open it
Apple’s on-device language and vision models do the work, so there’s no 300 MB model download before your first search.
-
Keeps up with changes
New, changed and deleted files are picked up while MightyBench is open, so your results stay current.
-
Only the folders you pick
You decide which folders are indexed, such as Documents, Desktop and Downloads. Nothing outside them is searched.

FAQ
Questions about Search Files
Anything else? Email support@mightybench.com and a person will reply.
How do I search inside files on a Mac?
Open Search Files, choose the folders to index and type what you remember. It matches meaning and exact words together, and each result opens in its own app.
Can I find a file without knowing its name?
Yes. Describe what it’s about in your own words and Search Files matches on meaning, so the file turns up even if it never uses those exact words.
Does it search photos and screenshots?
Yes, when Include photos and screenshots is on. Search for what’s in a photo or for words visible in a screenshot, across JPEG, PNG and HEIC files.
Do I have to download a model first?
No. It uses the language and vision models Apple already provides on your Mac, so there’s nothing to fetch before your first search.
Which kinds of files can it search?
TXT, Markdown, RTF, Word, text exported from Pages, HTML and PDF, plus JPEG, PNG and HEIC images and screenshots, in the folders you choose.
Are my files uploaded to be searched?
No. Your files are read by Apple’s on-device models and never leave your Mac. There’s no account and no analytics.
Plus forty-eight other tools.
Search Files comes with every other MightyBench tool: video, audio, images, PDFs and on-device AI in one native Mac app. Pay $39 once for one Mac, with every MightyBench 1.x update included.
