Video · Record Screen

Record the screen, and the Studio zooms in where you click.

Capture a display, a window, an area you drag out or just your camera. Then dress the take in the Studio with wallpaper, padding, shadow, captions and music before you export.

How it works

Three steps, start to finish.

  1. 01

    Open Record Screen

Press ⌃⌥Space and type “screen recorder”, or pick it from MightyBench’s menu bar icon.

  2. 02

Pick a source and your inputs

Choose Display, Window, Area or Camera, pick a microphone and camera, switch on System audio if you want it, and set a countdown of 3, 5 or 10 seconds.

  3. 03

    Press Start Recording

A floating bar lets you pause, resume, restart, discard or stop. Then polish the take in the Studio and export MP4, MOV or GIF, or copy it to the clipboard.

The details

Small things, done properly.

  • Zooms that follow your clicks

Clicks and pointer movement are recorded, so the Studio zooms in on every burst of clicks. Move, resize or delete any zoom, set its depth, or let the view follow the pointer.

  • Wallpaper, padding and shadow

Set the recording on a macOS desktop picture, a gradient or a solid colour, with padding, corner radius and shadow, on a 16:9, 9:16, 1:1 or 4:5 canvas.

  • Captions written on your Mac

Your voice is transcribed on-device into captions. Fix any word and the caption updates, with nothing sent anywhere.

  • Voice and system sound apart

Microphone and system audio are kept as separate tracks, and the camera is saved on its own so you can place it later.

  • Trim, split, speed and music

Trim, split and speed up clips, mute parts of the audio, and add a music lane with its own volume.

  • Export from 720p to 4K

Choose MP4, MOV or GIF from 720p to 4K at 24, 30 or 60 fps, in four quality levels from Studio to Web.

FAQ

Questions about Record Screen

Anything else? Email support@mightybench.com and a person will reply.

How do I record my screen on a Mac?

Open Record Screen, choose Display, Window, Area or Camera, and press Start Recording. Stop from the floating control bar, then polish the take in the Studio and export it.

Can I record system audio and my microphone together?

Yes. Turn on System audio and pick a microphone. The two are kept as separate tracks, and your camera is saved on its own.

Will MightyBench show up in my recording?

No. Record Screen is built on ScreenCaptureKit and leaves MightyBench’s own windows out of the recording automatically.

Can I add captions to a screen recording?

Yes. The Studio transcribes your voice on-device and turns it into captions. Fix any word and the caption updates; nothing is uploaded.

Can I make a vertical video for social feeds?

Yes. Choose the 9:16 canvas in the Studio before you export, or 1:1 and 4:5 for square and portrait posts.

Does Record Screen need FFmpeg?

No. It only needs Screen Recording permission, plus camera and microphone access when you use them.

Plus forty-eight other tools.

Record Screen comes with every other MightyBench tool: video, audio, images, PDFs and on-device AI in one native Mac app. Pay $39 once for one Mac, with every MightyBench 1.x update included.
